Literature Survey

To protect users in a dynamic environment where new threats surface frequently, the ability to identify malicious packets on the network is essential. An active intrusion and prevention system is unavoidable in these circumstances. Aged intrusion and prevention system are facing problems in detecting modern network attacks with low accuracy, and high rate of false positives being major problems. To deal with this dilemma, we are suggesting an intrusion detection and prevention system based on deep learning, which uses multi-modal artificial neural network. Here, we mainly focus on the four types of network attacks.

Those are Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, Reconnaissance attack in both normal and the IoT traffic, BlackBox attacks and the Mirai botnet attack. We embarked upon the varies development of various types of multi-modal Artificial Neural Networks, followed by an extensive investigation to determine the most suitable model for our application.

The research problem addressed by NetBit centers on the significant deficiencies in existing network access control systems, particularly for small businesses. Traditional systems often fail to meet the complex security and usability needs of small enterprises, leaving them vulnerable to sophisticated cyber threats. These businesses typically lack the resources and expertise required to implement robust security measures, making them prime targets for network anomaly, unauthorized access, and data breaches.

NetBit aims to bridge this gap by offering an intelligent, user-friendly network access control system that enhances both security and manageability. The system integrates advanced machine learning-based network anomaly detection, dual admin panels for streamlined management, and comprehensive access control features tailored to the unique operational environment of small businesses.

    Traditional security systems rely heavily on signature-based detection methods, which are not effective against evolving and sophisticated malware. Small businesses need advanced threat detection mechanisms, such as machine learning-based systems, that can adapt to new threats in real-time.
  • Comprehensive Access Control:
    Many existing solutions lack detailed access control features that can be customized to the specific needs of small businesses. Effective network security requires granular control over user access to different network resources, ensuring only authorized personnel can access sensitive data.
  • Cost-Effectiveness:
    Small businesses operate on limited budgets, making it challenging to invest in high-end security solutions. There is a need for affordable yet robust network security systems that do not compromise on essential features and protection levels.

This approach not only enhances security but also empowers small business owners and administrators to effectively manage their network environments.
